BARUNSTE EXPEDITION 7129m.
Mount Baruntse Expedition – At an elevation 7,129m, Mt. Barunstse is nestled on the lap of Mount Everest and mount Makalu at the center of three glacier valley- the Imja, the Hunku, and Barun. Baruntse Expedition was first made by Colin Todd and Geoff Harow on 30 May 1954 via South-Eastern ridge. The south-east flank is quite arduous and technical because of steep snow slopes and the hard section of 50-degree elevation with gigantic ice cliff to be climbed facing the hazard of avalanches on the way. Mount Baruntse Climbing Expedition needs two camps on the Lower Barun Glacier, underneath the SE Ridge at 6,000m and 6,300m respectively. Fixed lines would be installed on the climbing route to Camp 1 below the West/ East Col to protect the climbing process. Baruntse Peak summit features the panoramic views of Lhotse, Everest, and Makalu. Descend is made via the same route. The climbing trail follows the route of Mera La and Hinku valley as if going to Mera Peak before approaching to the Baruntse. The existing route includes passing of Amphu Laptsa past Island Peak and climbs down to the standard Everest trail. Mt. Baruntse expedition befits those climbers who are good in shape, possess previous climbing experience and wants to experience ultimate climbing adventure along with close cultural and natural encounter. It is recognized as the most achievable 7,000m+ peak in the world. Spring is the most admirable season for climbing however you can go for Baruntse Expedition during winter too.
